Back at the start of 2021, Niantic made a declaration. They were going to take cheating in their games more seriously than ever, which meant doing a lot of research and keeping an ever-watchful eye on their mobile games. Since that time, Niantic has gathered a ton of insight into how cheaters operate, and they’re ready to combat the troublemakers in some serious ways.

Niantic has announced that they’ll be ramping up enforcement against cheaters across their games, and this includes rolling out improved anti-cheat tactics. Niantic is kicking things off by taking action against a number of accounts they’ve found to be in violation of their terms of service or player guidelines during recent in-game events in Pokémon GO.

Niantic stresses that they have a lot of tricks up their sleeve, and this is only the beginning of their renewed efforts to sweep cheaters out the door. We’ll keep tabs on their initiatives from here on out and bring details to you when they’re shared.
