As we noted earlier yesterday, the Switch Online Expansion Pack was updated with a new N64 game, Pokémon Snap. This release also came with an update of the Switch Online N64 app itself, bumping it up to Version 2.4.0.

While Nintendo hasn’t released official patch notes for this update, dataminers have dug up some interesting details. Here’s everything we (un)officially know about Version 2.4.0.

  • Pokémon Snap added
  • The text “The microphone cannot be used when holding the controller this way” was added
  • Nintendo is removing comments from the config files, making it difficult to tell what was changed
  • a CPU hack was added to Star Fox 64.
  • a CPU hack was added to Kirby 64.
  • The AOT executable and PCB file for F-Zero X and Mario Golf were changed

There you go…a bunch of stuff Nintendo would ever share publicly. As to what it all means, it seems like it’s another par-for-the-course N64 app update. If anything interesting is gleaned from these details, we’ll be sure to share with you.
