Just last week, we noted that Nintendo had spent a serious amount of money on raw materials in their 2022 fiscal year. It was a number more than double the spending in 2019, which is when Nintendo launched both the Switch Lite and the revamped base Switch. What on earth could cause Nintendo to spend more than double 2019’s numbers on raw materials in 2022?

During Nintendo’s most recent shareholder meeting, the company addressed the raw materials situation. Nintendo speaks about the strained supply of these materials, and how they need to secure elements much earlier than before. On top of that, Nintendo is stockpiling raw materials in order to stave off issues down the line. As to what these raw materials are being used on beyond Switch (if that’s even the case), Nintendo isn’t saying.
