We’re very sad to report that Kazuki Takahashi, creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, has passed away. The Japanese coast guard discovered Takahashi’s body off-shore in Okinawa earlier this week. Takahashi was found wearing snorkeling gear, so it seems his death was a drowning, but that is yet to be confirmed.
Konami is the publisher behind the Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and video games, and they have shared a statement on Takahashi’s untimely passing. You can read their statement in full below.
