MassHive Media is bringing Potion Permit, an open-ended sim RPG, to the Switch on Sept. 22nd, 2022. This game aims to marry a ton of ideas, such as building relationships, exploring the landscape, fighting monsters, crafting potions, creating cures for sick townsfolk, and much more. It’s a lot for any dev team to tackle, and MassHive Media has a lot on their plate before launch.

In an interview with Nintendo Life, MassHive Media opened up about the toughest part of the game’s development. With a multitude of gameplay systems to tackle, the team’s answer might surprise you!

Creating goals, vibes, and mechanics which differ from other simulation games is the most difficult things we’ve encountered so far.  We wanted to differentiate our game from the other games that have inspired us the most, and we subsequently had to create a clear path for Potion Permit. We have had to scrap a lot of ideas along the way until we finally found the ones fit our game best.
