There’s many things that make the Super Smash Bros. series stand out but one of them is it’s vast catalogue of music. Today, we’d like to share a tribute to the lovely world of Smash music made by GameChops.

GameChops has released “Smash & Chill” a tribute album to the music of the Super Smash Bros. series. The video description reveals how the project came about.

Smash & Chill is a 9-track tribute to the music of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros, produced by Tudd and General Offensive. Fusing post-rock, lofi, and synthwave styles, the album is a groundbreaking installment in GameChops’ “& Chill” series.

Smash & Chill’s tracklist comprises fan-favorite themes from the Super Smash Bros soundtrack, and spotlights a wide sampling of Nintendo’s most beloved franchises including Super Mario, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Earthbound, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong, Persona, and Yoshi’s Island. Mastered by VGM legend Stemage, Tudd describes Smash & Chill as a “multi-genre, explorative project, driven by our creative instincts”.

Tudd and General Offensive first met years ago through an online Sonic the Hedgehog fan community. They hit it off immediately, and both having musical backgrounds, started making music together. After many collaborations and single releases together, Smash & Chill is their first full-length album. Drawing on some of their favorite themes from the soundtrack, the album’s tracklist spans a wide range of musical genres while maintaining a chill vibe.

And here’s the full tracklist…

  • Lifelight (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)
  • Dedede’s Theme (Kirby)
  • Stickerbrush Symphony (Donkey Kong)
  • When Mother Was There (Persona 5)
  • Snowman (Earthbound)
  • 7PM (Animal Crossing)
  • Lost In Thoughts All Alone (Fire Emblem)
  • Steam Gardens (Super Mario Odyssey)
  • Ending (Yoshi’s Story)

Nice, I'll need to listen to this. These GameChops "& Chill" albums were a staple for me while I was working from home during the height of the pandemic.

A chill version of Stickerbrush Symphony? That's like a chillception.
