Earlier today, Nintendo announced that the Wii U and 3DS eShops will be closed for new business on March 27th, 2023. Customers will still be able to hop on these shops and redownload previously-purchased games after this date, but anyone trying to make a fresh purchase will be out of luck. Turns out one game in particular will be unavailable to purchase a month before the storewide closure happens.

Nintendo Europe has announced that Fire Emblem Fates will be yanked for purchase on the 3DS eShop starting Feb. 28th, 2022, one month earlier than the general shop closure. No reason for this removal was given. Nintendo also mentioned that DLC for Fire Emblem Fates, including story paths accessible after the completion of Chapter 6, will still be available until March 27th, 2022.

Again, this was specifically mentioned by Nintendo Europe, but we’re not sure about the situation in North America. We’ve reached out to Nintendo for comment.
