Square Enix has revealed via Gemtasu that the Final Fantasy X series total sales have surpassed 20.8 million units, and that includes Final Fantasy X, X-2, and X / X-2 HD Remaster. It was reported back in October 2013 that total sales had reached 14 million units. After that, in the same year, they released Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster for the PS3 and then continued releasing it on various systems until we reached to the Switch release in April 2019. Unfortunately, Square Enix did not share the split between the systems as it would be interesting to know how much the Switch version boosted its sales.

Furthermore, as part of the Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary, Square Enix has also announced that a new Final Fantasy X kabuki play will be performed in Spring 2023 at the IHI Stage Around Tokyo. Performers included are:

  • Onoe Kikunosuke
  • Nakamura Shidou
  • Onoe Matsuya
  • Baishi Nakamura
  • Mantaro Nakamura
  • Yonekichi Nakamura
  • Nakamura Shikan
  • Kichitaro Kamimura
  • Shinobu Nakamura
  • Bando Hikosaburo
  • Bando Yajuro.
