Did you know that in Japan, August 1st is designated as “Water Day,” which kicks off a whole “Water Week” of festivities? This is a time when the Japanese government looks to raise awareness and deepen understanding among the people of the importance of water and water resources. For the 2022 efforts, the Japanese government is teaming with Pokémon Co. to spread the word.
None other than Vaporeon has been named the Water Day ambassador, and the Pokémon is teaming with Miss Nippon, a beauty contest for women, to create promotional videos to talk about all things water. You can see the first of those videos above, which has Vaporeon and a Miss Nippon contestant hanging out at a water conservation area.
We’re not sure if other videos or special merch are on the way for Water Day, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled!
