MTV Video Music Awards introduce 'Best Metaverse Performance' category

The MTV Video Music Awards are coming up on August 28th, 2022, and voting for all the categories is open right now. This time around, MTV has added a new category that’s very much a sign of the times.
For the first time ever, fans can now vote on the ‘Best Metaverse Performance’ category, which pools together virtual performances from the industry’s biggest stars. Virtual concerts in games and other online venues have really taken off in recent years, only to get a major boost from the pandemic. With millions upon millions of people tuning into these virtual concerts, it seems they’re here to stay.

- BTS’s performance in Minecraft
