The game industry numbers for Europe in July 2022 have come in, and Nintendo had yet another excellent month. There’s a lot to break down, but let’s start with the best-selling games of the month.

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 jumps to No. 3 when only counting physical sales since Nintendo does not share digital sales, No. 1 and No. 2 would be F1 22 and Nintendo Switch Sports, respectively.
  • Nintendo Switch was the best-selling hardware in July 2022 by a large margin.
  • The highest-selling new release was Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which made it to No. 7.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 launch sales were 27% higher when compared to Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition.
  • Overall, sales in July were down due to console stock shortages and a lack of major releases.
  • 8.62 million games were sold in July 2022, that’s 38% down year-on-year, keep in mind that July 2022 encompasses four weeks, while July 2021 was five weeks.
  • 297,420 games were sold across the region in July, a drop of 48% year-on-year.
  • Console sales were down 26% year-on-year.
  • 8.99 million add-on products were sold, a 9.4% drop year-on-year.
