Minecraft Steve's facial hair has returned

Did you know that all the way back in 2009, Minecraft’s Steve lost his facial hair? Back then, Steve had his goatee removed in order to make the default skin look more gender-neutral. Now in 2022, developer Mojang has finally brought back Steve’s face fuzz.

Minecraft has seen both its Steve and Alex character models updated, as they now feature extra 3D elements. Of course, most important is the return of Steve’s whiskers. You can see the comparison between old and new Steve in the image above.

Does this actually mean anything in the grand scheme of Minecraft things? It certainly doesn’t, but this slight change has made longtime Minecraft fans quite happy, and that’s what really matters.
