Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is coming to Switch on October 20th, 2022, and we’ve seen a considerable amount on the game in the last few weeks. That includes a peek at a few locations, which seem to be quite a bit varied when compared to the first outing.

In a new internal Ubisoft interview, Creative Director Davide Soliani was asked about the creation of the locations Mario and the gang will visit in this sequel. It turns out the team has set out to create environments that really mean something not only to the players, but to the dev team as well.

The creative processes of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Sparks of Hope have been totally different. In Kingdom Battle, we were all focusing on reimagining interesting locations from the point of view of the Rabbids. In Sparks of Hope, we chose locations that enable us to convey messages on the things that we care most about in life, about what we believe is important. And only after that, we try to imagine if our Rabbids could live in such location.
