Super Mario 3D All-Stars retains a Super Mario 64 typo from the original release, but changes up another piece of dialog

Yoshi's mistake lives on

Here's a bit of an odd one for you. In the Super Mario 3D All-Stars version of Super Mario 64, Nintendo has left a typo in the game that was there in the original release. While that's a bit odd on its own, the situation makes less sense when you realize Nintendo went into another piece of dialog to change part of it. Why tweak one part and not fix a typo in another?!

Super Mario 3D All-Stars' version of Super Mario 64 fixes the backwards long jump glitch, but there's an even crazier method speedrunners can use

Calves of steel!

Super Mario 64 speedrunners have been using the backwards long jump glitch to skip portions of the game for years now, but for anyone playing the game in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection, that glitch just isn't possible. That's alright though, as there's another glitch that gets you through the castle at a record pace, and it's even more impressive.

As you can see in the snippet above, it's possible to build up insane amounts of speed by wall-kicking consecutively in part of the castle. This glitch might take a lot more patience and skill to pull off correctly, but the end result is the same. Let the glitched speedruns continue!

Super Mario 3D All-Stars' version of Super Mario Sunshine accidentally includes visible 'debug cubes'

An emulation error

As you might have heard, Super Mario 3D All-Stars packs in 3 classic Mario adventures that you can play on your Switch. These titles have been brought over through emulation, and it seems that Super Mario Sunshine shows off one of the side effects of that emulation.

If you take on the "Secret of the Dirty Lake" challenge in Super Mario Sunshine, you'll eventually come to the area you see in the screen above. You might notice tiny grey cubes floating between the red and blue platforms. Those are 'debug cubes' show the path that the platforms will move on. This is actually an error introduced through a bug in the emulation. Those blocks shouldn't be visible.

Nintendo will most likely update the game to remove this error, but I'm guessing most people don't consider it a big deal to begin with.
